A meeting dedicated to cultural and educational activities in the field of concert and entertainment, as well as "Artist Etiquette", was held in Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Culture reports.
One of the key points of the meeting was the recommendation to artists to create works filled with love for the Motherland, devotion, and patriotism. As noted by the Deputy Minister of Culture, Bakhodir Akhmedov, artists must not only comply with the country's legislation but also "serve as an example for the younger generation, forming respect for national traditions, culture, and Uzbek values."
The meeting also discussed issues of licensing concert and entertainment activities, copyright, as well as ethical norms that artists must adhere to both on stage and in everyday life. It was noted that the "Uzbekkonsert" state institution will conduct inspections regarding compliance with legal requirements in this area.
Artists were reminded to avoid promoting luxury and excessive attention to their personality, and to focus on creating works that reflect national values and strengthen patriotic spirit among citizens.
Licenses of "Uzbekkonsert"
The activities of "Uzbekkonsert" in Uzbekistan are closely related to the issuance of licenses. Social media users have repeatedly criticized the agency for imposing restrictions on artists.
In the first half of 2024, "Uzbekkonsert" took measures against 65 artists performing without a license.
The agency also threatened to revoke artists' licenses for traveling around the world without written notification last October.
Also, at the beginning of October, the Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan proposed obligating concert organizers to provide "Uzbekkonsert" with a detailed script to verify its compliance with national values and traditions. The goal is to prevent "inappropriate behavior" of artists on stage.
