The Republican Center for Bakhshi Art announced the launch of a challenge, according to the Ministry of Culture's press service.
Baxshi Challenge is planned to be held on the eve of the IV International Festival of Bakhshi Art.
To participate in the challenge, participants must record videos of their performances featuring epic works or performances related to the art of bakhshi and send them to the Telegram profile @nomoreofus.
The organizers emphasize that the videos must be executed in good quality.
The best works will be published on the official pages of the Ministry of Culture and the Republican Center for Bakhshi Art. The authors of the most highlighted performances will receive rewards.
Deadline — until April 15 of this year inclusive.
"We invite all bakhshis who want to glorify the art of bakhshi to the whole world to take an active part in this challenge!" — noted the organizers.
About baxshi in Uzbekistan
Recall that back in December 2021, the art of bakhshi was included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan.
The art of baxshi represents the performance of epic works in the genre of dastan based on myths, legends, folk tales, and heroic tales. Baxshi poets, or storytellers, accompany their performances by playing traditional musical instruments like dombra and kobuz. They reproduce stories from memory, strictly observing cultural traditions and customs, and passing down rich oral traditions from generation to generation.
