Astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin from the Apollo 11 mission were the first people to set foot on the Moon. This event became the culmination of the space race between the USA and the USSR and one of humanity's greatest achievements.

In fact, the very first image of a person on the Moon is a photo of Armstrong descending the stairs of a lunar module, but it was the image of Aldrin that gained worldwide fame.
