One man — in a white shirt, with two bags in his hands — stands alone in front of the Chinese army's tank column. He blocks their movement, step by step preventing them from passing. When the tanks try to bypass him, he stands in front of them again. At one point, he even climbed onto the tank, talked to the crew, and then returned to his seat. Eventually, he is taken away - presumably by security officers or just passersby.

The picture was taken by several photographers, but the most famous shot belongs to Jeff Widener (Associated Press), who was filming from the Beijing Hote hotel balcony.
There are also versions of Stuart Franklin's photograph (Magnum Photos) and CNN and BBC video recordings.
The photo shows that one person can challenge an entire system — even armed and organized.
