According to the event's official website, the competition will be hosted by the city of Basel, and performances will be held at the St. Jakobshalle.
According to the schedule, the first semi-final is scheduled for Tuesday, May 13, and the second for Thursday, May 15. The final show will take place on Saturday, May 17.
Meanwhile, disputes continue to rage around the competition. In March, the Maltese government accused Eurovision organizers of censorship. The reason was the European Broadcasting Union's (EBU) demand to remove the word "kant" from the song of the country's representative, Mariana Conte, due to its harmony with an obscene expression in English. Although this word means "singing" in Maltese, EBU considered its use unacceptable.
Malta's Minister of Culture, Owen Bonnichi, called the ban an act of artistic censorship and discrimination based on language. Despite the incident, Malta is not going to refuse to participate in the competition and intends to challenge the EBU's decision.
