According to Luminate, a company that tracks streaming content statistics, on April 21st — the day the media reported the pontiff's death - the number of views on "Conclave" jumped by 283%. For comparison: on April 20, the film was viewed for 1.8 million minutes, and by the end of April 21, this figure had risen to 6.9 million minutes.
Another film on the theme of the Vatican also generated interest — Netflix's drama "Two Popes" (2019). Its views increased by 417% — from 290 thousand minutes on Sunday to 1.5 million minutes on Monday.
As a reminder, "Conclave" is a film about the election of a new Pope after the death of the previous one. It reveals the entire process of choosing a pontiff. She also won the 2025 BAFTA Award for Best Picture.
