According to the new regulations, building is also prohibited in recreation areas. In addition, measures to preserve parks are being strengthened in the country - a fight will be waged against the reduction of their territories.
Botanical gardens are now classified as specially protected natural areas. Any activity that threatens their vegetation will be prohibited.
As clarified, illegally allocating or alienating state land used for public recreation is punishable by a fine of 300 to 360 times the basic calculated value, correctional labor from two to three years, or imprisonment from five to seven years with restriction of rights.
During the Senate discussion of the law, alarming figures were announced: in 184 parks across the country, the reduction of green spaces and deforestation was recorded, and 944 buildings and structures with a total area of more than 43 hectares were erected in their place. In addition, 91 illegal structures were discovered in 18 parks, and 1,248 attractions were installed illegally in 98 parks.
It was also noted that the practice of seizing park lands for the reserve fund of government bodies, their subsequent privatization or alienation, remains a serious problem.
