The main event of the event was the presentation of symbols of the "Cultural Capital of the Islamic World" status to Samarkand.
The Director General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), Dr. Salem bin Muhammad Al-Malik, presented the symbolic flag and statuette to the Minister of Culture of Uzbekistan, Ozodbek Nazarbekov, and the Governor of Samarkand Region, Adiz Boboyev. This gesture officially established Samarkand's status as the cultural capital of the Islamic world.
Uzbekistan receiving this honorary title for the third time is a recognition of its contribution to the preservation and development of Islamic cultural heritage.
Speaking at the opening of the forum, Dr. Salem bin Muhammad Al-Malik noted: "Thanks to the foresight of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Center of Islamic Civilization was established in Tashkent, and today Uzbekistan has become the pride of Islamic culture."
The forum will continue its work with the participation of representatives of international organizations, cultural and scientific figures, emphasizing Uzbekistan's importance as a center of spiritual and cultural dialogue in the Islamic world.
