According to the Center, the Chairman of the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan, Firdavs Abduhalikov, held talks in London with representatives of auction houses. Maryam Kalo, Edward Gibbs, and Benedict Carter from Sotheby's, and Margot Oganesian and Sarah Pambley from Christie's participated.
According to the results of the auction held on April 29-30 at Sotheby's, the Center selected 34 lots. Another 14 artifacts were agreed to be purchased on May 1st at Christie's auction. All the facilities are planned to be brought to Uzbekistan and included in the permanent exposition of the Center of Islamic Civilization.
Cooperation with auction houses also involves further work to restore lost cultural values, as well as promoting Uzbek heritage at international exhibitions and auctions.
