Submission deadline — until March 15, 2026, the exhibition will be held from May to August 2026, curator — Diana Rakhmanova.
The idea of "OVAL" grew out of a children's animation workshop: one of the participants, instead of a portrait, drew an empty oval and explained it by saying he didn't remember his parents' faces — they had left to work abroad when he was very young. This gesture became the starting point for an exhibition that invites us to consider what we truly hold in memory: an image, a contour, an absence — or a space that can be filled with our own experience.
Authors from Central Asian countries are invited to participate without age restrictions; works can be submitted in physical or digital format. The organizers are open to various media—from painting, graphics, and photography to text, sound, video, objects, installations, performance, and even food as an artistic statement (for example, a dish connected to the memory of one's parents).
To apply, you need to send an email to kudukcc@gmail.com with a brief description of the idea, the work's format, and visuals/materials (or a link), specifying the email subject: "Application for the 'OVAL' exhibition." Participation is unpaid, but exhibition support, visibility of works within the exhibition and public program, as well as the possibility of selling works are promised. The selection results will be announced in April 2026.
