The evening will begin at 19:00. Before the programme, a
special exhibition in the foyer will showcase the life and stage career of the
artist.
The organisers approach the event not as a formal
anniversary, but as an attempt to rediscover and present the scale of Tamara
Khanum’s artistic legacy, without which the history of the Uzbek stage in the
20th century would be difficult to imagine. The programme features dance and
vocal performances from Tamara Khanum’s repertoire, performed by leading
ensembles and soloists. The concert is conceived as a living revival of her
unique stage language.
Tamara Khanum, born Tamara Petrosyan on 29 March 1906 in
New Margilan, entered history as one of the key figures of Uzbek stage dance.
Her name is associated not only with performance art but also with the
institutional development of culture. Publications commemorating her
anniversary emphasise her contribution to the establishment of the
Choreographic School and the State Conservatory in Uzbekistan.
Today, her legacy is preserved in her house museum in
Tashkent, which houses her costumes, posters, photographs, manuscripts and
personal belongings. According to descriptions of the museum’s exhibition, her
stage costumes formed the core of her artistic identity, and the museum itself
is located in the very home where Tamara Khanum spent her final years.
Tickets for the concert are already on sale.
