Every stage story about Aesop, originating from Guilherme Figueiredo's play "The Fox and the Grapes," is an inevitable immersion of the audience into a world of whimsical fantasies and vivid images. After all, it concerns a thinker, a slave purchased by the wealthy Xanthus. In Sergei Zakharin's production, Aesop's fate encompasses laughter, tears, and love. Following the typical slave market transaction of that era come astonishing incidents, romantic adventures, and dramatic intrigues.
In the comments on Yandex Afisha, audience opinions about the play were divided:
"We really enjoyed the performance!!🤩The actors did a great job!!! Holding the audience's attention for over two hours is amazing!!! Aesop was brilliantly portrayed!!! Those lines from the fables are certainly memorable! And that subtle parallel between that time and ours is simply incomparable!...", "I don't know who's looking at the set design in the theater... and they don't like it... I was deeply moved by the actors' performance, just superb!!! And the director's concept is a whole other story, it touched on something very relevant to us :) overall, I definitely recommend it", "This is the worst show I have ever seen in my life. The set design was practically nonexistent. The acting was unprofessional; out of the entire cast, only Furman truly lived his role. As for Glushko, it was unclear what he was portraying, zero emotion. A weak production, only the core idea was good."
