"It was a dream: to create a school where I myself would have wanted to study," says the school's co-founder and film producer Yulia Shaginurova. The ambition to create a film school was largely shaped by the injustice in the structure of Uzbekistan's film industry.
"Sometimes I think we're creating this school to establish a small institution, but one that will help people engage in creativity and express themselves through cinema," adds director Mikhail Borodin.
"You can't make a movie if you don't know what it looks like," he is sure.
In this episode, Borodin talks about purchasing original content and what hinders the development of Uzbek cinema.
We also spoke with the renowned documentary filmmaker Umida Ahmedova and a graduate of her course at the Tashkent Film School.
