Yuzma-Yuz | Sardor Salyamov, NmaGap Studio

Yuzma-Yuz is our new documentary project, offering a glimpse into the lives of artists and creatives through the lens of a visual diary.

In each episode, we piece together our subject’s world through their photographs, notes and memories. An important part of the project is a series of video walks through places that hold special meaning for them, where we have more personal conversations and explore how the city shapes their creative work.

The first guest of Yuzma-Yuz is blogger and NmaGap podcast host Sardor Salyamov. Tashkent is deeply woven into his story. His school, university, favourite café, personal studio and the mahalla where he grew up are all places that shaped him.

Walking through places that hold special meaning for Sardor, we spoke about his first steps in production, the key to success, creating a theatrical show, gaining recognition across Central Asia, coming to terms with failure and the support of his colleagues.

Discover more about Sardor’s creative journey and how his home city has shaped him.
