This week’s guide

Deep autumn is like strong coffee with cinnamon: a bit of melancholy, warmth, and a sense of time slipping away rapidly. However, cultural life is just gaining momentum, adding colors to this palette. This week brings exhibition openings, long-awaited concerts and festivals, performances about the future, and conversations about the present.

Exhibition "Lahza"

When: opening 11/04/2025 

Where: Art Station, Samarkand

The exhibition titled "Moment" brings together 50 works—photographs, slide shows, and films—created by participants of the Engage H2O summer film and photo school. The central themes are: water, time, and everyday gestures.

Lecture "Architectural Routes of Modernism: What to See and Where"

when: Thu, November 6, 18:00

where: Republican Children's Library

From constructivism to the modern urban environment: delving into the legacy of modernism in Uzbekistan. Explore the capital's key buildings, learn how 20th-century architecture was formed, and why it is perceived today as a significant part of cultural memory. The meeting will be led by architectural historian Anna Bronovitskaya.

Performance "Tomorrow"

Where: Ilkhom Theater

Artem Kim's Laboratory and Mark Weil's Ilkhom Theatre present: "Tomorrow" — a play by Nikita Makarenko.A performance about the search for meaning, choice, and fear of the future. Ilkhom Theatre invites you to experience together a story in which the world is immersed in anxiety and uncertainty.

Screening of Dinara Asanova's film "The Wife Has Left" (as part of the NOMSIZ festival)

When: November 6, 19:00

Where: Kinoxona 

The film tells the story of a family in which everything seemed to be going well. The husband is confident that life with his wife is settled, but after 11 years of marriage she unexpectedly leaves, abandoning her husband and son. 

After the screening, researcher and artist Rakhata Asangulova-Kyzy will present a talk about the work of Dinara Asanova — one of the most prominent and original authors of Soviet cinema.

Social Dance Evening — Kizomba, Bachata, Salsa

Dance night: light steps intensify with passionate turns, the dance floor will be filled with light, and everyone gives their body freedom. 

Premiere 2.0. Fragments: Electronic Music of Uzbekistan 

When: Fri, November 7, 8:00 PM

Where: Nukus 89

A screening of a documentary film by the creative collective Kinogap about electronic music in Uzbekistan. A night of the electronic scene on screen: Densk, ISL, and Same Mistakes — DJs who explore Uzbekistan's club culture as an archive.

Play “Fahrenheit 451”

Where: Greek Cultural Center

A requiem performance based on the most famous dystopian novel. In the space of the Center for Greek Culture, the production takes on even greater significance: the transmission of ideals, visual parallels, cultural memory, and inner conflict.

Concert "Astana Philharmonic"

When: Sat, November 8, 7:00 PM

Where: State Conservatory

Guests of the capital can look forward to an evening with one of Kazakhstan's leading symphony ensembles — "Astana Philharmonic." The orchestra will perform classical works, arrangements, and possibly contemporary compositions.

Exhibition "Navigator"

When: 1.11-15.11, daily from 12:00 to 00:00+

Where: Nukus 89

"Navigator" is an exhibition-guide through the artistic routes of contemporary art. Almost round-the-clock accessibility will allow you to immerse yourself in all the installations. Come to navigate not by map, but by feelings and associations.

Symphony Orchestra of Tajikistan

When: November 8, 19:00

Where: State Conservatory

A grand concert by musicians from Dushanbe. The stage will be filled with the symphonic sound of the East: classics and national melodies performed by a renowned orchestra. 

Concert of Soundtracks "Magnificent Century"

When: Fri, November 7, 19:30 

Where: Palace "Friendship of Peoples"

The music of the legendary Turkish TV series goes beyond the screen. An evening performed by the city's finest cultural talents: familiar themes in live sound, a journey through history. 

RISHAT - OCEAN: PREMIERE OF THE NEW SONG AND VIDEO

When: Fri, November 7, 18:30 (guest gathering), 19:00 – start

The winner of the second season of the X-Factor project, Rishat Toktibayev, presents his new track and its official video. The event is a chance to be among the first to see the premiere and learn more about the song directly from the author.

Exhibition "Pulse"

When: from 30.10.2025 to 24.11.2025 

Where: Gallery of Fine Arts (NBU)

The series of works by young artists reflects the rhythm of the times, and the gallery turns into the city’s metronome. Come to hear your own pulse among the canvases.

Exhibition "Suzani in Dreams and Reality" 

When: from 25.10.2025 to 31.12.2025

Where: Navruz Park 

An exhibition dedicated to suzani—one of the most important symbols of Uzbek culture—is opening. Each ornament is a special language through which women spoke about important things. Three artists offer their own perspective on the tradition: Lola Novkovich—graphics; Feruza Alieva—batik; Natalia Yalysheva—porcelain.

European Film Festival 

When: November 7-9

Where: National Palace of Cinematic Arts 

For three days, portals to little Europe will open: dramas, comedies, animation, and documentaries from 12 countries—from Germany to Malta. The films presented in the program rarely make it to domestic distribution. The festival marks 10 years of cultural cooperation between Europe and Uzbekistan: in addition to film screenings, guests will enjoy a dance performance by the Spanish troupe Aire Nuevo Danza and a selection of short films on the theme "Generations."

Screenings and artist talk of the NOMSIZ festival

Where: Kinoxona 

One day that combines experimental cinema, discussions, and meetings with directors. The NOMSIZ festival introduces viewers to documentary films and visual essays not only from Central Asia.

“Other Games. Improvisation”

When: Sat, October 8  at 19:30

Where: Eco cafe

The evening is dedicated to live improvisation: stories and situations invented right on stage are performed by actors without any scripts. Each scene is unique, every joke and emotion is born together with the audience. A light, heartfelt atmosphere where the viewer is part of the game. 

II International Festival "Golden Autumn"

Classical music, chamber concerts, international ensembles, and young talents from the region. The festival's extensive program will brighten the deep Tashkent autumn.
