The project has become a rare example of modern fully hand-drawn 2D animation and has already attracted the attention of international festivals.
Blaze created the film almost single-handedly: each frame is a hand-drawn element of traditional animation. In total, the artist created about 11,000 drawings, which in terms of complexity is comparable to the production of classic cartoons of the late 20th century.
According to the author, he wanted to "return to the feeling of a living line" that distinguished old Disney cartoons.
"Snow Bear" tells the story of a little white bear cub, left alone to face the harsh Arctic reality. Blaze emphasized that he was inspired by the real ecological threats facing the species: the melting of the ice and the disappearance of their natural habitat.
The film not only follows the emotional arc of the character but also draws viewers' attention to the consequences of global warming. Many critics note that the animated film has become one of the most expressive animation works on environmental issues in recent years.
Despite its short duration, "Snow Bear" has already received several awards at independent film festivals in the USA and Europe. Viewers on social media call the cartoon a "return to childhood," "an inspiring work of a single master," and "an example of what true drawn animation should look like."
Aaron Blaise has released "Snow Bear" for public access, and now the film can be watched on YouTube in high quality. The release has caused a great deal of excitement — within the first few days, the video gathered tens of thousands of views and numerous enthusiastic reviews.
