Central Asian Culture and Arts Days Held in Berlin

The honorary guests included ambassadors extraordinary and plenipotentiary from Central Asian countries, the Head of the Department for the South Caucasus and Central Asia at Germany’s Federal Foreign Office, the Deputy Mayor of the Tempelhof-Schöneberg district, and others.

Uzbekistan’s national pavilion, decorated in a traditional style, drew considerable interest from visitors. The display featured national costumes, suzani embroideries, atlas and adras fabrics, traditional handicrafts, as well as informational materials on the country’s cultural heritage and tourism potential.

The event also included a concert programme with ensembles from across Central Asia. Particular acclaim went to the Druzhba Narodov ensemble from Uzbekistan, whose performance of national songs and dances received a warm response from the audience. A quiz on the traditions of the region’s countries also proved popular, with winners receiving commemorative gifts.

Matthias Steuckardt, Deputy Mayor of Berlin’s Tempelhof-Schöneberg district, noted that such cultural presentations bring together people of different nationalities and cultures, which is especially important for a district home to communities of many nationalities and religions.
