The project comprises four films: Karim and Shoista, Batyr, Farrukh, and Potomki (The Descendants).
Each explores the story of the Zakirov family through individual figures who have played a significant role in the development of opera and pop music in Uzbekistan.
The films were shot in Uzbek and Russian.
Rather than focusing solely on biography, they aim to capture the cultural legacy of a family whose multiple generations have shaped the country’s musical landscape.
Speaking about the film, Farrukh Zakirov said:
The idea to make a film about my father, my brother, about family has been with me for a very long time. And it became a unique story: in one family there are four People’s Artists and three Honoured Artists. Karim Zakirov was one of the founders of opera in Uzbekistan. Batyr Zakirov made a great contribution to the development of pop music in Central Asia. We continue these traditions. And it is important to pass on this legacy — through films, through songs, through works of art. If, say, out of a thousand people, ten leave with an understanding of what Uzbekistan is and what our values are, that is already a victory.

The premiere of the first film in the series will air on 16 April on Zo’r TV and MYDAYTV.
