Karapetyan works with experimental photographic processes, exploring questions of agency, memory, and transformation. Her works have been exhibited at the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art in Moscow and are included in the collections of the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, LACMA, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
The artist earned a Bachelor's degree from Yale University and a Master's degree from UCLA. She currently lives in Los Angeles and works as an associate professor in the Department of Art at the University of San Diego.
A residency in CCA will allow her to deepen her study of the parallels between two geographically distant regions, each with its own unique cultural and natural features.
