This week’s guide
The week begins with three days of TEPLO AUTUMN FEST in the Japanese Garden and ends with a poetry evening devoted to Pasternak and Mandelstam. Sunday, 6 September, is the main day: CCA Tashkent opens with the Hikmah exhibition, Lang Lang performs on Registan Square in Samarkand, Panorama hosts a gala concert for the 35th anniversary of independence, and three premieres take place in theatres simultaneously. In between it all — a wordless puppet show, birdwatching with an ornithologist from Paris, an art gathering in memory of Yayoi Kusama, and IKEA as a phenomenon of visual culture.

TEPLO AUTUMN FEST — an autumn festival of local brands
For three days, the Japanese Garden will host a market of local brands, accompanied by live music and artist performances, a picnic and chill-out zones, art installations, food and drink areas, and activities for both adults and children. Admission: 35,000 soums (children), 70,000 soums (adults)

Art talk "The Infinite Worlds of Yayoi Kusama" — Kandinsky Art Club
A gathering to discuss the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama — one of the most celebrated and commercially successful artists of our time, who recently passed away. Her death has prompted a renewed appraisal of the scale of her legacy: from painting and performance to the legendary Infinity Mirror Rooms and collaborations with fashion houses. The conversation will cover her biography, the stages of her creative evolution, and her most renowned works and installations. Premiere of the puppet theatre production "The Blue Dwarf, or The Pearl Heart"
The production was created on the initiative of the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation. A distinctive feature of the staging is the near-total absence of intelligible text: the characters communicate in an invented language, while the narrative unfolds through movement, music and lighting design. Autumn celebration "Birds, Flights and City Voices"
Two days devoted to birds and birdwatching. Children learn to distinguish calls and silhouettes, notice traces of birds in the city and try their hand at birdwatching. Guests of the programme include French ornithologist Maxime Zuccar, researcher Nika Samotskaya, and Korean artist and author Lee Myung-ae. The celebration continues the theme of the book "Hello, Tashkent!".

Opening of CCA Tashkent and the Hikmah exhibition
On 6 September, the CCA Tashkent Centre for Contemporary Art opens its doors to the public for the first time. The day's programme includes children's workshops inspired by works in the exhibition, a conversation between artists Nari Ward and Tariq Kiswanson with curator Sara Raza, film screenings by Kimsuji and Ali Cherri, and three performances — "Avaaz", Laylo and "Shashmaqom. Method". Alongside the opening, the Hikmah exhibition launches, featuring works by Uzbek and international artists, some created specifically for these galleries.
