Folk Dances of Khakassia in Tashkent

The Ensemble of Khakas Dance "Kün Suzy" of the V. G. Chaptykov Khakas

Republican Philharmonic will perform on the stage of the Alisher Navoi State Academic

Bolshoi Theatre. In the program "Rays of Sunny

Khakassia," the company will present its best numbers, introducing audiences to the distinctive

culture and traditions of Khakassia. The ensemble's participation in the festival highlights

Russia's multiethnic cultural space and offers

the Uzbek audience a chance to discover the artistic heritage of one of its regions.

Recall that the Khakas are a Turkic-speaking people living in the Sayan region and the steppes of the middle Yenisei. The peoples of Uzbekistan and Khakassia share a common Turkic language, terms, and identical place names. For example, Shirinsky District exists both in Uzbekistan and in Khakassia, and the name of the Yenisei River, on whose banks the Khakas live, is called Enasoy or Yenesay in Uzbek sources, meaning Mother River.
