From 10 to 19 October, Tashkent will host the Classic Music Fest - an international classical music festival that will combine works by European composers, contemporary compositions and performances by musicians from various countries. The opening will take place at the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan, while the main programme will unfold on the stage of the Alisher Navoi Grand Theatre.

Over nine concert days, audiences will hear symphonic and chamber programmes featuring music by Beethoven, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Ravel, Brahms, Dvořák, Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, Glinka and contemporary composer Alexey Shor. The first evening will open with Dvořák's Ninth Symphony “From the New World” and Shor's Concerto for Violin, Viola and Orchestra, performed by violinist Alexandra Tirsou and violist David Aaron Carpenter, conducted by Gergely Madaras.

The programme includes an “Egmont” evening with works by Beethoven and Tchaikovsky, a “Bolero” evening with music by Ravel and Dukas, and a “Verdiana” programme with Saint-Saëns' “Carnival of the Animals”. On the final day, 19 October, Glinka's overture to the opera “Ruslan and Lyudmila”, Shor's concerto and Brahms' Fourth Symphony will be performed by violinist Haik Kazazyan and cellist Alexander Ramm, conducted by Martin Panteleev.

A distinctive feature of the festival is the combination of different eras and genres: classical masterpieces are juxtaposed with works by contemporary authors, and large-scale symphonic programmes alternate with chamber evenings. Tickets are available at the theatre box office and on the iticket.uz website.
