Ара Чалым

She graduated from the Moscow State Linguistic University (Russia) and studied at the University of Bologna (Italy). Her work intersects literature, visual art, and linguistic studies. Her practice explores themes of migration, gender, patriarchy, feminism, postcolonialism, and necropolitics, as well as human interactions with the environment. She currently researches whistled languages, particularly Turkish kuş dili ("bird language"), combining linguistic fieldwork with creative writing and visual art. In 2026, she participated in the Stories of Migration artist-in-residence, organized with the support of the European Cultural Foundation.
