Turkestan celebrated the work of Shamshi Kaldayakov with a song festival.
At the "Keruen-Sarai" tourist complex in Turkestan, the "Shamshi Songs" arts festival was held, dedicated to the legacy of composer and People's Artist of Kazakhstan Shamshi Kaldayakov, known as the king of the Kazakh waltz.
The event featured performances by renowned pop artists and young singers: the quartet "Zhigitter", the groups Melomen, "Saryn", and Turan Boys, as well as vocalists Moldir Auelbekova, Marzhan Arapbayeva, Altynay Zhorabayeva, Dosymzhan Tanatarov, Ali Okapov, and others. The hall resonated with works by Kaldaiakov from the golden fund of Kazakh song art.
The festival was attended by Nuralkhan Kusherov, the akim of Turkistan Region, along with members of the intelligentsia and local residents. The audience actively participated in the concert, singing songs alongside the performers.
The main goal of the event is to popularize the composer's musical heritage and support young performers. The festival reflects the regional development policy: since 2018, 35 community centers have been opened in the Turkestan region, and the number of tourists has grown from 186,200 in 2018 to 500,000 in 2025.
The region continues to develop its cultural and tourism potential through systematic events at the republican and international levels.
