Autumn in Almaty is a special time of year, when the city seems to transform, suffused with golden hues, soft light and the quiet charm of summer’s fading days. Nature paints the streets and parks in shades of yellow, orange, crimson and gold, turning familiar cityscapes into living works of art. Leaves swirl through the air and settle into colourful carpets along the pavements, while sunlight filtering through the tree canopies lends everything around it a remarkable softness and warmth.

Almaty is beautiful in every season, but autumn reveals a different side of its charm. Against the majestic backdrop of the Trans-Ili Alatau, its peaks already dusted with the first snow, the city seems even more inviting and picturesque. Broad avenues, tree-lined walkways, leafy squares and favourite places to unwind take on a new atmosphere. Even places we know so well take on a different character, as though inviting us to pause for a moment, look around and appreciate the beauty of the world.

Yet Almaty’s beauty lies not only in its natural surroundings and architecture, but above all in its people. It can be found in the morning rush of passers-by, in the smiles of strangers, in families strolling along autumn paths and friends chatting over a hot coffee. Residents hurry about their business, some stopping to photograph the golden trees, others simply savouring the last warm days. Everyone has their own autumn, their own thoughts, memories and small joys. It is these everyday moments that make up the very soul of the city.

Autumn teaches us to notice beauty in everyday things: the rustle of fallen leaves beneath our feet, the clear air after rain, the warm glow of streetlights in the early evening and sunlight glinting off city façades. It reminds us that every season has its own charm, and every moment its own singular beauty.

“Autumn in Almaty” is more than a collection of photographs of cityscapes. It is a story about a city that can be vibrant and serene, fast-paced and welcoming, modern and yet wonderfully familiar to everyone who lives here or has visited, even just once. These are moments in which the colours of nature, the mood of the streets and the warmth of human hearts come alive.

May these photographs preserve the charm of autumn in Almaty: its golden leaves, the mountains, the smiles of its people and that special atmosphere that makes us love our city.
